Glimakra's two heavier looms, the Standard and the Ideal, are honestly capable of weaving any textile from light, high-count fabrics to moderate-weight rugs. Glimakra's lighter offerings, the Victoria Table/Workshop crossover loom and the newly-designed Julia provide tremendous versatility to any weaver with limited space or budget.
When weaving heavy rugs, I choose a different loom, simply because I do not wish to strain such a well-considered piece of equipment. For many weavers, a carefully-selected Glimakra can be a single, lifetime investment that can be passed to the next generation after years of pleasurable work. There are few tools deserving this praise.
With your purchase of a new Glimakra Standard or Ideal from The Hawthorne Works, I will come to your studio and assist with initial assembly and adjustment within a hundred-mile radius of Sutton, Vermont at no additional charge. For clients beyond this radius, I will provide the same service for a reasonable, pre-negotiated fee. If you wish to purchase either the Victoria or Julia loom, I offer free assembly and a two-hour basic training session at my studio. For looms collected or delivered within Vermont, 6% Vermont sales tax will apply.
